Information for teachers
Thanks to SA’s public libraries, teacher-librarians, teachers and students can access many of the Challenge’s titles as eBooks – for free!
Our eBooks can be borrowed anytime and are automatically returned with no late fees.
(note our service is NOT compatible with Kindle e-Readers)
Please note:
- There are no copyright issues with regards to your students accessing PRC titles either in the classroom or outside it
- We have a ‘self registration’ page at libraries.sa.gov.au/join where students can sign up for digital library membership – this gives them access to all our statewide digital collections, including eBooks
- As our eBook collection also contains adult content, we recommend that individual parental consent be gained before you or your school encourages any student who is under 18 years of age to sign up for digital library membership for the purpose of accessing PRC eBooks. This consent could be gained in the annual consent form that many schools provide to parents. Please ensure you read our Acceptable Use Policy for Library Customers

To access Premier’s Reading Challenge eBooks on your iPad, iPhone or Android phone/tablet:
- You need to be a library member with an “X0” or “D0” barcode number and PIN. If you aren’t already a member, create a digital library membership account at: libraries.sa.gov.au/join
- Install the OverDrive “Libby” app on your device, open it & then log in with your “X0” or “D0” barcode number & PIN (created during the account signup). The Libby app can be accessed from the App Store or GooglePlay
- When in the Libby app, select ‘Library’ then select ‘Explore’
Then select Guide: Kids to access:
- Reception to Year 2 titles
- Year 3 to Year 5 titles
…or select Guide: Teens to access:
- Year 6 to Year 9 titles
- Year 10 to Year 12 titles

Rather borrow hard copy Premier’s Reading Challenge books from our libraries?
To borrow hard copy books (Challenge books or any other), digital library members need to visit their local public library with identification to have their account upgraded. Check with your local library as to the identification you will require. To find your local library, click here.
You can search for hard copy titles using the search fields near the top of this page to see what’s available. If you place holds on different titles you can be notified when they are available to you.
